(Not so) Happy Halloween

I have been excited about the thought of dressing Emerson up and watching her expression as I passed out candy to kids in costumes. Well, my excitement started declining after Emerson fell ill the night before Halloween and had us up for hours in the middle of the night with a fever. However, we woke up today and Emerson was tired but seemed to be feeling better. By the time I got off work, she seemed exhausted and a little bit cranky, but I figured we would go along with our holiday plan anyway. As you can see from the picture above, Emerson was not too excited about her costume. I tried to make her more comfortable by minimizing it and taking her outside to watch the other kids walk by. As you can see below, her mood did improve a little while we were outside.

When it came time to pass out candy, Emerson stood at the door and watched the kids as they came up to the house. She wasn't sure what to think about the kids, but when her friend, Katelyn, rang the doorbell, Katelyn gave Emerson tons of hugs and kisses, and Emerson filled Katelyn's treat bag full.

Luckily, Emerson was well the first night we lit her pumpkin, and she was going nuts watching it through the window. Unfortunately, Cosmo was afraid of it so we finally had to blow out the candle.

She is so sweet! I love that picture of her peering through the window. I'm glad she's feeling better.

She looked so cute in her costume, even with the tears!
