Big Chair, Little Girl

I didn't register for a high chair (because I didn't know what kind I wanted) so I have been using Emerson's Bumbo seat on the kitchen counter for feeding time. The Bumbo seat was working pretty well for us, but as Emerson became more active she would throw her body around in it, and I worried that she would tip it over backwards and hit her head, although I was standing right there with her. So, this weekend, Em and I went to the baby store and picked out a high chair. When I first put her in it, I was worried that she would hate it since the chair is so darn big. But, she seems to enjoy it. I'm not sure if she actually likes the chair, or if she is just worried about the grub she receives while in the chair. Anyway, it was a great purchase!

Emerson is finally starting to roll over more frequently. But, of course, she does it when we turn our heads so I haven't had a chance to record it yet. I will be happy when she learns how to roll herself back over because she woke me up in the middle of last night because she had rolled over onto her tummy and wasn't sure what to do with herself. Luckily, it only happened once...maybe she learned her lesson! She has also learned how to roll herself out of her boppy so she won't be resting on it too much anymore!

Baby's First Mini

Emerson wore her first mini skirt today. She looked pretty darn cute in it!

Baby Loves Food!

Emerson is definitely my daughter...she loves food as much as I do. When I am feeding her cereal (or fruit), she says what sounds like yum after every bite. And if I don't get the bite of food in her mouth fast enough she screams. I just knew that she had to be gaining weight due to her love of food, and the nurse confirmed it this week...she gained nearly 1-1/2 pounds since last month. She is up to a whopping 13.8 pounds. They didn't measure her length since we just went in for a weight check but I'm hoping that she is getting taller so that she isn't short and fat like me!

Baby Blues!

Emerson was born with beautiful royal blue eyes. However, we knew they would eventually change because all most all babies are born with blue eyes. We figured they would turn green since Jim and I both have green eyes. Emerson's eyes have changed different shades of blue over the last five months but the blue is holding on strong. They are slightly green around her pupil but they still look very blue even wearing a green shirt! Maybe that's a sign that her hair will remain red too!

Dog Naps!

Cosmo has figured out how to get some shut eye with all the crying and squealing that goes on in our home. She has decided to take over our bed. The last two mornings she has jumped back in bed and doesn't move for hours. It's been nice for me because it is a good excuse to not make the bed. And I'm sure once Emerson starts crawling and walking Mo will use the bed as her hide out!

Tasty Toes and More!

It is hard to believe that Emerson is five months old today. I cannot believe how fast the time has gone and how she changes each day. I've noticed the most changes in the last month, as she has reached many milestones.

In the past month, she has rolled over (only a few times though because she isn't sure about it), has learned to gobble up food from a spoon, has discovered how tasty her toes are, and just yesterday she was able to sit by herself without any support. Mommy and Daddy are so proud of her.

We do not have a doctor's visit this month but we will take her for a weight check next week just to make sure she is still gaining weight. My tired arms are guessing that she's gained some weight since last month.

Gotta Love Robeez!

I bought these mary jane Robeez for Emerson many months ago, and after several tries on her feet, they finally fit! They are so darn adorable so I hope that she doesn't outgrow them any time soon. Luckily, grandma bought her a pair with daisys in the next size up (along with a matching shirt and hat) so it won't be too disappointing when her feet grow!

Baby was Ashed!

Is that a bruise? Is it dirt? Nope. Emerson received her first ashes at mass yesterday. Emerson enjoys going to church but yesterday was a little long with the increased amount of parishoners and the distribution of ashes. I'm still trying to figure out how we are going to get her to sit through Easter mass. It might not be too fun!

Common Theme

Those of you who have seen my weekly photo albums (and I say album because I can't take just one picture a day) of Emerson, have probably noticed a pattern...missing boots (a/k/a socks). Every time Emerson plays in the floor, off come the boots. I was having some luck with Gap and Trumpette socks but they seem to come off now too. And it doesn't help that she has discovered her feet and constantly tugs at her socks. Luckily, Cosmo hasn't discovered the good smelling baby socks yet. I keep waiting for that day!
