Will Crawl for Bananas!

Emerson is finally mastering a real crawl. This morning she crawled toward Jim because she wanted to share his banana. She is learning that crawling on her knees gets her places faster. Listen for the whine in the video...she is crying over a banana. This kid begs more than Cosmo!

Best Seat in the House

We are always searching for toys that will entertain and educate Emerson because she gets bored easily (except when she's getting into things she shouldn't be in). Jim and I were shopping at Babies R Us this weekend, and we came across this cute talking/singing chair. We thought maybe she would be too small for it, but so far she loves it. We will see how many days this toy lasts. It was pricey for a plastic toy so hopefully we will get our money's worth.

8 Months Old

Emerson turned eight months old this past weekend. I know each month I say that I am amazed by her, and I'm gonna say it again....she amazes me each and every day. She is at a fun age now (although it's very tiring). In the past month, she has started pulling herself up to a stand, and over the last few days she is perfecting that stand, taking a couple of steps while holding onto the couch, tries to climb the bar stools, learned to open and shut the kitchen and bathroom cabinets and is even starting to crawl a short distance on her knees (until she realizes that dragging herself is easier). She is becoming one smart cookie...sometimes even smarter than I give her credit.

Emerson doesn't have a doctor's visit this month so we don't know how much our little stinker has grown. I'm guessing she's about 17 pounds though since size 2 diapers still fit her pretty well.

Learning to Self-Feed

Emerson has been snacking on puffs for some time now, but she is finally learning how to feed herself, and Cosmo too! As you can see in the video, Emerson loves to share with Cosmo.

First Tooth, Part 2

I'm standing!

On Sunday afternoon, we tried to put Emerson down for two different naps. However, she refused to sleep. At both naps, she started sobbing so we went in to check on her, and what did we find....she was standing in the crib. I had to take down her mobile and I think it's time to lower her mattress again!

Emerson has been trying to pull up on different things around the house, i.e. bar stools (see pic below) and her bouncy seat. She pulled up on her bouncy seat on Saturday and fell into the fireplace and received her first bruise on her ear. Luckily, she's a trooper and her bruise doesn't hurt. I'm sure it's just the first of many to come.
