The Waiting Game

I had my 36th week doctor's appointment today, and it was pretty uneventful. The doctor isn't too concerned about the weight of the baby because my amniotic fluid and everything else looks good with the baby. Plus, she said the ultrasound isn't completely accurate in measuring the baby's weight. However, I am scheduled for non-stress tests and ultrasounds on weeks 37 and 38. At week 38, if the ultrasound reveals that the baby is still below the 10th percentile in weight, they will consider inducing labor.

Now, I just have to sit back and wait. I could go into labor before my 38th week check-up, be induced shortly after that visit, or go closer to my due date. I hate the waiting part!

I'm trying to occupy my time with shopping and relaxing. I checked out Teeter Totter in Carmel today, and I just had to buy a cute pair of pink Robeez. Of course, they won't fit her for awhile, but at least I have them on hand for that day!

Mini-Me

I had my second ultrasound today to measure the size of the baby. She's a petite little thing....she weighs only 4 pounds 14 ounces at this time (which is a little below average). As a guesstimate, I was told that if I carry full term she may weigh around 6 pounds. Other than being small, everything else looked good. I didn't get to see her face because she was face down; however, she has tons of hair (just like her mommy).

I have my 36th week check-up next Tuesday and they will include a non-stress test at that time. I will be monitored closely week to week and may have another ultrasound in a couple of weeks to determine if the baby needs to be delivered early. She's almost here!

Baby Update

For the last few months, I have received many comments that I am quite small for how far along I am. Of course, I have ignored all the comments because I feel like the Goodyear Blimp. Well, I went to the doctor today for my 34th week check-up, and the doctor noted that I am measuring a little small. She did not seem too concerned, but she scheduled me for a 2nd ultrasound for next week to get a more accurate measurement. My brother and I weighed just over 6 and 5 pounds at birth, and my dad and uncle each weighed just over 3 pounds at birth, so I am hoping that my family just pops out small babies! Otherwise, my visit went well and everything else looks good.

On a more positive note, I received my graded thesis today, and I received a perfect score! Since I cannot celebrate with a beer, maybe I will treat myself to a dish of ice cream...oh, I forgot, I would do that regardless!!!

I'm no soccer mom!

When I first told people I was pregnant, I received the obvious questions first, and then many people asked if I would be buying a mini-van. Those of you who know me very well didn't have to ask that question because the answer was obvious. I have been pushing for a new Audi for many months (long before my pregnancy), and we finally bought one this weekend. It's no mini-van or SUV, but it looks good and it ranks high in safety...that's what is important! Oh, and my car seat will match perfectly!

As for my pregnancy, everything is still going pretty smoothly (except for this heat). I'm at week 34 today, so only 6 more weeks to go. I have a doctor's appointment later this week, so I am hoping that the doc will say that I can go a week or two early. I'm ready for the baby, and a nice cold beer!

Dog Dayz of Summer

Earlier this summer, I started walking Cosmo every morning after breakfast, and Jim and I would walk her after dinner. Well, now she expects these walks daily regardless of the weather. She follows me around each morning and pouts until we go on our morning walk, and she does the same thing at night as we do our dinner dishes. It's been a little too hot for me to walk much this week so I have skipped out on a few. Well, this morning I was feeling like a bad mother so we took our morning walk as soon as I got out of bed in an attempt to beat the heat. As you can see from this picture, it was a little too hot for Cosmo too, as this pic was taken about 5 minutes after our stroll. I took this picture to remind her of the heat, but she must have forgotten because she was back at it again tonight, and we just returned home. Now, I have swollen ankles, which is my reminder of the heat!

Pretty in Pink Debut

Many months ago I talked to my friend, Kim, about creating a baby blog. I have been thinking about it all this time, but I was too busy finishing up with school and buying baby things. My thesis is due next week (and it's pretty much done...just needs some polishing), and I had a baby shower last weekend so now I will have plenty of free time on my hands.

I thought I would post a picture of my #1 girl in my blog debut. I think she is feeling a little left out because more of my money is going to baby things and not doggie dolls. However, I allow her sniff everything that comes through the door, and she seems to enjoy the baby socks...and has even tried to nibble on them. Cosmo is a little high maintenance and requires a lot of attention so I need to make sure that she knows that she is still mommy's little princess!

I'm starting my 33rd week of pregnancy this week, and I'm feeling pretty good. I could do without this hot, humid weather, but I just keep reminding myself that I only have 7 weeks left. I feel like I have had the world's fastest pregnancy...I can't believe that baby girl #2 is almost here.

Keep checking back for updates. I'm going to have a lot of free time for the next 7 weeks so I will probably be posting a lot to keep myself occupied.
