Growing Up

Not much time to post trying to keep up with life and our diabetes blog, but here's some recent pictures of Emerson. She's getting incredibly big!

Finally...recent pictures

I had planned on blogging more this year, but since Emerson's diabetes diagnosis in early February, there has not been much free time for blogging. Emerson is doing well and is getting started on an insulin pump in a couple of weeks. If I can find some time to blog, I'm going to start a new blog focused on our new life with diabetes and what we face day-to-day. Until then...I hope you enjoy a couple of recent pictures of my fabulous red head (according to her, she is a "Rock Star")!

Marco Island

Emerson took her first plane ride to Florida earlier this month. She loved flying and wants to be a pilot when she gets big.

We had a nice relaxing time at the beach, and did not do much other than swim, play in the sand and pick up sea shells. We are thinking we need to make it a yearly trip!

My Girl Rocks

Happy 3rd Birthday Emmy P

It's hard to believe that Emerson turned 3 today, and what a great three years it has been. Happy Birthday to my sweet (but feisty) Emerson!

Also, a Happy 13th Birthday to Cosmo. Since she was rescued when she was just weeks old we only know that her birthday is in September so we have decided to celebrate it with Emerson's birthday...and Emerson loves sharing her birthday with Cosmo.

Road Trip

With our kitchen remodel and work, we haven't had much time for fun this summer. So, last weekend we headed north to visit Jim's parents and hit the beach in New Buffalo. It was a nice, relaxing weekend.

Water Baby

We have been spending a lot of time playing in water this summer since it has been extremely hot. On the weekends, we have been spending our time at the community pool, the baby pool on our deck, running through the sprinkler, and watering our flowers. Emerson absolutely loves the water and loves to get drenched. She has a weekly Splash Day at school, and her teacher tells us that Emerson gets wet from head to toe and tries to encourage the other kids to get just as wet.

New Bike

Watch closely and you will see Emerson pedaling away on her bike. Her new bike is good exercise for mommy and daddy because we have to jog to keep up with her!

More vacation pics

Hilton Head

We are back from Hilton Head. Emerson had a great time. She's becoming such a great swimmer, and received many comments on her swimming skills and vocabulary from other vacationers.

This is a picture from Salty Dog. Emerson, Katelyn and Ian were boogying to the music out on the deck. I will post more vacation pics when I get time.

Cheese!

If you ask Emerson to say "cheese" for the camera, this is what you get. Luckily, I caught her with her eyes open for this picture!

Emerson has developed into a silly, fun girl, and Jim and I wonder if she's going to be an actress when she's older. Over the weekend, we were going into Old Navy and Jim said something about it having low prices, and Em started quoting an office supply commercial about low prices. Of course, I don't watch commercials so Jim had to tell me what she was talking about.

So far, the 2s have been good...we got rid of the pacifier and diapers and we are now trying to eliminate the whining and crying. She's getting better, but I think it's a girl thing so it probably won't go away completely.

We are leaving for vacation this weekend so I will post some beach pictures once we return.

Buddies

Emerson and Cosmo are finally buddies! Cosmo liked Emerson when we first brought her home from the hospital because she was something new and interesting and she liked the poopie diapers. Then, when Emerson started to become mobile Cosmo didn't want anything to do with her...probably because Emerson was always going after her and because she was getting all of the attention Cosmo used to get. Cosmo has decided that she likes Emerson again now that Emerson can walk, feed and pet her...or maybe it's because she's getting old, losing her hearing and just doesn't care anymore...my Mo will be 13 this Fall.

Spring is Almost Here

Spring is just a couple of days away, and I cannot wait for it to officially arrive! The sunny, warm weather we have had the last few days is making me crave more.

The flower and patio show also makes me wish for Spring. We took Emerson to our local flower and patio show last weekend, and saw so many beautiful plants and flowers. Emerson loved walking around and looking at the landscaping. She even wore a dress with flowers for the occasion. And speaking of Emerson, not only was she a good girl, she also didn't have any accidents. She was able to keep her bladder under control until we got back home. She's such a big girl now!

Full Potty Equals Full Potty Chart

After a few stressful weeks of potty training, I think Emerson has finally mastered it. I don't know what happened this week, but something finally clicked and she figured out how to use the potty, and even do it by herself (must be all the bribes... M&Ms, stickers, trips to Marsh and presents). Emerson finally filled up her potty chart, and is nearly half way through the second one. Way to go Emmy...Mommy is so proud of you (just please don't revert back to your old ways..I hear that it's common but let's hope it doesn't happen here)!

Baa, Baa Black Sheep

Emerson loves to sing, and it seems like each week she has a new favorite song. The song of the week is Baa, Baa Black Sheep. Luckily, Emerson can sing the songs now, so I don't have to share my horrible voice with the world!

Last Snow Day

Hopefully, I will not be taking any more pictures of Emmy playing in the snow this year...I'm over it...the snow that is. I'm not sure that Em will agree though because she likes riding in her wagon and helping Daddy shovel snow (with short breaks to eat a little snow since Cosmo eats it)!

The Princess

I never seem to have time to post, but I wanted to share a recent photo of Emerson. Every time I look at this picture, I'm amazed at how grown up she looks. A month ago, she still looked like a toddler but now she is developing into a little girl! It's hard to believe that she will be 2-1/2 next month.

My Big Girl

My little girl is growing up so quickly. Emmy has been wanting big girl panties, a big girl bed, and everything to do with being a big girl. This last weekend we decided to convert Emerson's crib to a toddler bed. She is so thrilled with her big girl bed, and actually sleeps well in it, and I'm thrilled that I finally have a use for the quilt and pillow sham that I purchase long before she was born. Now, when Emerson browses through her PBK catalog, she points to the toddler bed and says "that bed's like Emmy's bed."

Now it's time to move on to potty training so she can wear big girl panties!

Happy 2010!

We celebrated New Years Eve with Sonya and her family since we live in the same neighborhood and wouldn't have to get out and drive. The girls had a blast and even had a dance off near the new year. Emerson has some great dance moves...check out the video.

We all stayed up until about 12:45, and we were all quite exhausted today. Hopefully, we are fully recovered by tomorrow and can get out and start celebrating 2010.
