Wow...who knew single parenting could be so tough! Jim received an email from his boss last Saturday asking Jim to replace him at a seminar in North Carolina this week. My first reaction was panic and then I was just p*ssed off! How could I take care of a dog and a baby by myself for three nights? But there was nothing we could do because his boss' mom passed away and we knew it wouldn't look good if Jim didn't go. When I woke up on Monday, I felt pretty good about him leaving...thinking I could regain some of my independence for a few days since I depend on Jim to do everything for me these days.
Well, Jim flew out late Monday afternoon and everything went well at home except for a diaper blowout! I managed to make it through Monday night and Tuesday night with both kids and no problems. So, I was thinking...I was Super Mom!
Well, all the drama hit last night! AJ came over after school to go to dinner with Emerson and me. Cosmo was extremely excited when AJ arrived and ran her normal laps around the apartment. Cosmo keeps forgetting that she is an old lady, and she reinjured her leg. As most of you know, when Cosmo is hurt, there is a whole lot of drama that goes along with it. When she needed a potty break, I had to carry her down the stairs and spend what seemed like hours limping around outside to find the right potty spot. (And did I mention that I hurt my wrist a couple of weeks ago and can't lift anything heavy...including Cosmo). So, I finally got Emerson to bed and Cosmo and I went to bed a few hours later. Well, Mo was in so much pain that would sigh, and when I would wake up she was staring into my eyes. I guess that around one or two o'clock she decided that she was okay and moved to her dog bed.
At that point, I'm thinking, ah, I can get some good sleep until morning. Wrong! Emerson woke up hungry around 3:30 so I fed her and tried to put her back to bed. Wrong! She wanted to chat! I was up until 5:30 listening to her chat, laugh and squeal at nothing but my face! Ok, so it was cute so it was worth staying up for. I finally got back to sleep around 6 and then at 7 Emerson was awake again because it was time to eat again! Needless to say, I didn't get any sleep last night. But I somehow managed to make it to StrollerFit today. Thankfully, Jim comes home tonight so maybe I can get some sleep!
Oh, I also posted a photo below to show what pals Emerson and Cosmo have become. Emerson seems to like Cosmo a little more than Mo likes her though. Mo has helped us with some fussy periods because Emerson seems to light up when she sees Cosmo.

What a teaser headline, I'm thinking hey what's going on with Dawn and Jim, luckily nothing, which means I don't have to feel too bad for you. :P Oh wait, I forgot how "fussy" Em is!!!
You are a trooper, Dawn! I think I would have lost it several times over! I'm glad Jim is back this evening to give you a well deserved break.
I'm freaking out a bit myself - my sister has been staying with me for the past couple of weeks and is leaving me this weekend. I'm going to have to learn how to do this whole baby juggling thing on my own during the day next week! I may be calling you for pointers!
That is such a cute picture of Emerson and Cosmo! Looks like you have been keeping very busy with the kids! I hope all is well (:
